OUR HISTORY
The Artists' Cooperative of Whidbey Island was incorporated by a group of local artists as a Washington State not for profit in 1992. It operates on the cooperative theory and gives the artists an opportunity to display and sell their work in a gallery setting along with a sharing of costs and operations of running the gallery.

Notice: Due to declining economic conditions, our Gallery closed Dec 31, 2008. We are monitoring opportunities to re-open any time. Meanwhile, the Co-op members continue to network, meet, and create.

ABOUT OUR OPERATIONS

The Artists Cooperative is unique in that it allows juried artists the opportunity to sell their work as well as taking a part of the operations and decision making processes of the gallery.

Gallery business operations are handled by it's members via Committees. Hours of operation are covered by members, typically 2-3 shifts per month, an excellent opportunity for public to meet the artists. Members meet once a month and committees meet according to their needs. There is a council which is selected as an advisory panel for long term planning and current business needs. Dues are based upon fixed expenses.

Each month there is a jurying process seeking new members, featured artist are displayed and the display committee rotates and displays the artwork around the showroom.
