Bill Stamats, Acrylic
Artist Statement:
The path of an artist is seldom direct. Wanderers, we’re pulled by endless curiosity, rerouted by new inspiration, and always stretching to see beyond the places we were born. These happy detours clarify the course. With a little luck, we land somewhere that makes our heart skip a beat- a somewhere so stunning that we can feel the creative energy humming just beneath our skin. Bathed in its own light, the Pacific Northwest has been a sort of true north for me for quite a while (long before I called it home). My acrylic paintings of old barns in the American Midwest have created a through-line to the historic barns on Whidbey Island, Washington and surrounding communities.
