Nancy Anderson
Medium: Oil
since  1987

Picture

Nancy has been oil painting professionally for over twenty years after studying fine arts and art history at the University of Washington, University of Puget Sound and in Europe. After college she spent several years as a technical illustrator for a large company before having a family. She taught school for  seventeen years and then decided to return to her first love of painting.

Nancy has been influenced by many workshop and teaching instructors over the years including Ned Mueller; Gay Faulkenberry; Michael Bingham; Dorothy Lampl; Dianne McClary; Dianne Dunnn; Julann Campbell; and Carolyn Anderson who have encouraged and led her to pour her heart and soul into the process.

She is currently furthering her education, studying with Julann Campbell, who was a student of renowned Russian impressionist, Sergei Bongart.

Nancy is a member of The Artist of South Whidbey and Oil Painters of America. She has exhibited at numerous shows and galleries in Washington State and received the 2007 Best in Show award at the Whidbey Island County Fair and the 2008 Best Professional Painting award at the 2009 Island County Fair.

Nancy Anderson is an impressionistic oil painter. As a colorist, she endows every painting with the conviction that color harmony is the essential element in her work. “I try to project what Sergei Bongart said, ‘Art is more that a product of your efforts - it should be about feeling, life, attitude and soul’.”
