ABOUT OUR OPERATIONS
The Whidbey Art Gallery is unique in that it allows juried artists the opportunity to sell their work as well as taking a part of
the operations and decision making processes of the gallery.
Gallery business operations are handled by it's members via Committees. Hours of operation are covered by members, typically 2-3 shifts per month, an excellent opportunity for public to meet the artists. Members meet once a month and committees meet according to their needs. There is a council which is selected as an advisory panel for long term planning and current business needs. Dues are based upon fixed expenses.
Monthly meetings are scheduled the second Tuesday of every month at the Whidbey Art Gallery at 6:30 PM
* All Members are requested to attend. Prospective Members and Artists are welcome. Bring a chair :)
Each month there is a jurying process seeking new members, featured artist are displayed and the display committee rotates and displays the artwork around the showroom. For more information about how to jury, click here.
The gallery currently houses 21 working members and 4 consigment members, located in downtown Langley a historic waterfront village known for a strong artist community. The showroom houses 1100 sq ft of display area. Offering to the community interactive service, participants in Gallery Walks, demonstrating artists, at times visiting artists and shows as well outreach to local organizations and benefit auctions.
PRODUCTS/SERVICES
The Whidbey Art Gallery offers quality artwork by local artists consisting of Fine Art: paintings, photography, colored pencil, wood & stone carving, jewelry, glass, metal, sculpture, and fiber art. The artwork is submitted and then juried to keep quality high.
CUSTOMERS
Gallery customers are local residents, summer residents, tourists and art collectors. Langley is a unique waterfront town that offers retail shops and has become a resort destination known for it's beauty, sense of community and art. People come to shop in Langley for it's uniqueness that the local shops have to offer. The Cooperative fits right into the flair of this town. The Gallery also sells to the consumer because of it's unique quality of Fine Arts and Crafts.
Customers are interested in the local art community and like to see what they are producing, they also take great interest in the processes used, inspiration,etc.
