Whidbey Art Gallery's Featured Artist: Doug Hansen
Doug’s years of art studies combined with his artisan skills have given rise to an inventive style that integrates oils and three-dimensional elements into unique artistic studies. “I love adding complexity to a painting with dimensional objects that deepen the story and engage the audience.” “It is so easy to get caught up in a world that's moves faster and faster and seems to get more complicated everyday - often at the expense of merely appreciating life and the world around us. My antidote to that inherent stress has been walks through the woods near my home. It’s a marvelous way to decompress and reflect on our relationship with nature and history. I’ve tried to capture that tranquility in my paintings and bring that feeling to life." |
Doug Hansen holds degrees from the University of Washington and the Burnley School of Art. His work has shown in numerous galleries throughout the U.S. since 2002. He has been a guest lecturer at the University of Washington and the University of Oregon and resides in Langley, WA. Doug works in his home studio, sharing space with his wife and author, Diane Sorensen.
