Nancy Duncan, Photograhy
Throughout my life, from as early as I can remember, I’ve been fascinated with the inner workings of nature. The insides of growing things, the intricacies of a sometimes foreign landscape we call the natural world. I attended Western Washington University as well as The Seattle Art Institute, (formerly, The Burnley School of Professional Art), which led me to a career in advertising. My love of books and a position in a small publishing firm, changed my career path forever. For the past thirty years, I worked for numerous art book publishers, having produced and designed over 2000 books, most often, art and photography books. I was responsible for overseeing the design and manufacturing from beginning to end. This gave me the opportunity to travel to parts of the world I never dreamed I would experience, and again opening my curiosity to the natural world. During my career, I enjoyed photography. But recently retired, I’ve been able to take time to see how deeply into these inner workings of nature I can go. . My camera has given me the tool with which to capture intimate portraits of nature and explore the intricacies and perfection of design found therein. I am constantly in search of the bold, unexpressed parts of nature, it never fails to surprise me and fill me with awe. |
