At 10, I decided I wanted to be an artist or surgeon. Throughout my lifetime I have explored many mediums. Dreams and nature inform my work and the way all life is intertwined. My art is an existential search. I am intrigued by the beauty in seemingly mundane things: the shadow of
a bowl, cracks in the sidewalk, the way a deer lowers it’s head, letterforms, a blade of grass bending in the wind; relatively ordinary things that upon close examination become extraordinary. My journey has enabled me to study with the most innovative artists in their fields: Michael Good, jeweler; Paul Bryant, master goldsmith; Charles Lewton-Brain, metalsmith; Tory Hughes, polymer clay artist; Nicholas Wilton, contemporary painter. My work reflects my quirky and oft-times circuitous path. Plus, I like to laugh a lot. |
